At first, an infected tooth may not look serious. The outside may appear fine & the pain may come & go. You may feel sensitivity to hot drinks, cold foods or pressure while chewing. Sometimes, the tooth only aches at night or feels tender when touched. This stage can be confusing because the problem is often hidden inside the tooth. Bacteria may have already entered the pulp, which is the soft inner tissue that contains nerves & blood vessels.
