Stop-and-go traffic is considered “severe driving conditions.” It puts more strain on your brakes, transmission, and cooling system because there isn’t a constant flow of air to cool the engine. It also causes “idling” wear, where the engine is running but you aren’t moving. If you commute in heavy traffic, you may need to change your oil and check your brakes more frequently than the standard manual suggests.
