Udyog Aadhar was an online registration initiative introduced by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to make registration easier for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India. The system allowed entrepreneurs to register their businesses using their Aadhaar number and basic business information through a simple, paperless process. After registration, the enterprise received a Udyog Aadhaar Number (UAN), which served as an official identity for the MSME. This helped businesses access government schemes, subsidies, financial assistance, and easier loan approvals from banks. It also increased the credibility of small enterprises in the market. In 2020, the government introduced Udyam Registration as the new system, replacing Udyog Aadhaar with a more advanced digital platform. Udyog Aadhaar played an important role in making MSME registration simple and accessible for entrepreneurs across India.
