The Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry launched the Chip Import Monitoring System (CHIMS) as a digital platform to properly monitor and regulate the import of chip products into India. Importers are required by CHIMS to register their chip import-related information in an online database before delivering their products to India. This information comprises the importer’s name, the chip’s country of origin, the amount being imported, and the port of entry. CHIMS is intended to assist the Indian government in tracking the import of chip products and ensuring that only high-quality chips enter the nation. It is also intended to assist the government in defending the indigenous chip industry against unfair competition from imported chip products.
